phish: unfinished helping friendly book

it seems the script is still being written for phish.

they each showed up at the jammy's the other night in NYC to receive the lifetime achievement award. the speculation of a musical reunion that night was high. alas, that moment when those four tap into the musical cosmos together is still looming.

most of my friends know how grumpy i am about the idea of a phish reunion. but i may have just turned a corner. i really wanna hear trey play. and yeah, i'll settle for any of the incarnations that he comes up with, i guess. i am finally thinking about thinking about being almost maybe sorta kinda ready for a phish reunion.

i'm lucky. i found something special (for me) to sink my teeth into almost immediately after phish's last performance, 8.15.04. my first ryan adams show was at the warfield, 9.22.04. after the coventry disaster, i was swept away by a new muse: ryan adams. i consider that one to have been ridiculously exceptional karma on my part.

since, i've even heard trey play ryan's songs (first time was the beacon, 2.12.06 with phil and friends). talk about WOW. major worlds colliding.

so with the announcement of trey's first full appearance in 17 months at the Newport Folk Festival in august, well, i got inspired to post about my jones to hear trey play.

completely unrelated, this is a very busy week of shows, with the last five nights of performances at the warfield as we know it. maybe i'll get inspired to do some reviews of the gigs.

in the meantime, here is trey's acceptance speech from the jammy's. photo cred to jeff kravitz for the shot up above.

The Jammys were a total blast, despite the non-Phish reunion. My favorite moments included Page's tribute to jazz, the opening of the show with Warren and Grace Potter and the old school hip-hop-a-thon with Chali2na and Doug E. Fresh.

As for IF Phish reunites, I wouldn't bet against it at all. ;-)
